I re loaded 5th Element onto my hard drive.
I can't get enough of the special effects...The humor, (gasp) and the beautiful song from the 'Diva'.
Humor, eye candy..and action!!
yep..I'm sentimental.

You like Luc Besson's work? You know he wrote The Fifth Element when he was a teenager in school... instead of paying attention.

And that was at least 20 years before he finally made it into a movie.

A couple of other movies he wrote, directed and produced which I enjoyed are The Professional (Leon) and La Femme Nikita.

le Grand Bleu i really enjoyed, even when i first saw it as a kid...the soundtrack is phenomenal.

The gun they use (sniper rifle, revolver chamber) what is it? i have looked high and low for that weapon and never seen it even mentioned.

She looked cute in that one, but I'd hardly call her perfect.

I heard that they are doing another Pink Panther remake; I liked the first one for some reason and hear that John Cleese will be playing inspector Dryfus. That could be interesting. The only thing I didn't like about the remake was the cheap way they did the fight training... they really should have gotten a stunt double and done those right.

Diva Plavalaguna - I tried to use that on my first elementalist, but someone already using it .... i thought an elementalist would look something like her.

Starship Troopers is one of the rare movie that gives you good entertainment. Its surprises me that I enjoyed it at all. I've only recently watched Showgirl on Video when a bunch of friends voted to watch Starship Troopers the following weekends. both have the same director, and one must wander how the hell did he do 2 so different movie one after the other....

However my best OMG I don't have any movie to watch situation movie was What's eating Gilbert Grapes. I must say, Leonardo diCarpio deliver his best peformance in that movie. It made me wander if they have really hire a retarded person and have him performs. Later on I found out Johnny Depp was actually my high school crush lolol, i used to love to watch 21 jump street the TV series!

I can't believe Kevin Bacon is 50 years old lol.

Requiem for a Dream is one of the movies under the category OMG I couldn't find this movie. However I have read high praises every where, even before it was shown, and I could not find a copy of it anywhere, not where i live anyway, not for a long time, I've only just watched it a month ago, and now i know why they cast her in the movie the House of Sand and Fog, boy is she annoying !!! lol.

Requiem is a very good movie as a movie, but it does not entertain me, its too heavy, and so so sad, because its so real.

What do you think about the situation presents in The House of Sand and Fog??

I'll add some of my favorites:

300: Perfect date movie. Eye candy for the ladies and violence for the guys.
Pride & Prejudice: the recent one. Yeah, I know, but I actually know quite a few guys who like this movie. It's all romantic and mushy and yet there's this tension through the whole movie even though you know how it ends up.
Hellboy: No I have no idea why I can watch this movie like 20 times and not get bored of it. Reference my previous comments for why I'm so excited about the next one.
Serenity: Another movie I like to watch for pure entertainment value.
Planet Earth: Discovery channel made this 5 series DVD. It's excellent, fascinating and downright mesmerizing. You have to see this, also happens to be quite educational.
Reign of Fire: Just love it.
Lord of the Rings: Yes I quite loved all of them. Read all the books beforehand and just can't help but watch them. Excellent.
Touching the Void: It's a documentary film reenacted with them being interviewed. And even though they are both being interviewed you are STILL wondering the entire time if the 1 climber will make it. It's incredible.
Hotel Rwanda: I admit I didn't know much about the situation over there. Was really good but hard to watch actually.
Silence of the Lambs: C'mon, who does not like this movie.
GiGi: Really old movie, from the 50's. I just love it though.
Carousel: Another old move from the 50's that's a favorite of mine. So much wrong with this movie but I can't get over it. I mean, he beats her but she stays with him... weird. You'd have to see it. It's mushy and romantic so be warned.

So... I have a really diverse like in movies.

I have to agree with pumpkin on Pitch Black, great film. (1000x better than the sequel Chronicles of Riddick) It has a lot of character to it and even Vin Diesel does a good job (the character suited him ^^).

Two films that I love but aren't particually great are Get Shorty and The Producers (new version), they both really make me smile. Get Shorty is really easy going and has an awesome (imo) soundtrack and The Producers is just funny and great ^^.

In that same vein, did you see The Last King of Scotland starring Forrest Whitaker. Again, a really well made film with a great cast and excellent acting, but hard to watch because it's true. And just like Hotel Rwanda, they actually downplayed the brutality. *shivers* It was so much worse. A little bit off topic yet on the same subject, "The Poisonwood Bible" by Barbara Kingsolver about the political changes in the Belgian Congo/Zaire in the late '50s/early '60s is an excellent book. She writes so beautifully, it's a very enjoyable read. Back on topic, I'd wonder why it hasn't been made into a movie yet if it weren't for the fact she exposes the US government's (Eisenhower and the CIA) hand in the brutality and genocide that followed Belgium's liberation of the Congo by staging a coup and putting the murderous dictator, Mobutu, in power.

Avalon (a must-see for any MMO-er), Dune, Chocolat (All movies with Johnny Depp), Memento, Truman show, Sphere, Galaxy Quest, Mystery Men, What dreams may come, Blade runner, American Beauty, Donnie Darko, The Crossing Guard (all movies with Jack Nickolson), Pitch black, Minority report, The big lebowsky, Astérix & Obélix:Mission Cléopâtre, Austin Powers, Returner, Appleseed

(also all movies directed by Bryan Singer, David Lynch, David Fincher, M. Night Shyamalan; and all the Studio Ghibli animes)

(if you have the chance to grab them on dvds or tv, watch the tv series "Harsh Realm" and the absolutely brilliant "Odyssey 5" and "Babylon 5")

Did you see The Bucket List? It was like Rob Reiner went the full circle of life from The Princess Bride (appealing to the child within us all) to The Bucket List (addressing the last stages of life). It really had that warm Rob Reiner touch, and, of course, Jack Nickolson and Morgan Freeman were great.

Not my favourite movie by far, but a thought I've had is that in The Day After Tomorrow why can't you see people's breath in the extreme cold they're supposed to be experiencing? Also, although I still want to see it, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull apparently has loads of balls ups in it: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0367882/goofs. My favourite movies are the Bourne series and Lord of the Rings.

It's not great, it's sublime! But not much luck here (UK) with DVDs as I don't have a multi-region player

BTW the movie was filmed in Polish and I've never seen it dubbed!
